Patron Spotlight: Hugh Whipple

Hugh began work for Capitol Air in the late ‘70’s in various capacities based in Chicago. Next port of call was Continental Airlines in their Chicago Reservations Center in various positions in 1983. They declared Chapter 11 in the Fall, closing the Center. Next port of call Midway Airlines(ML) as a Reservations Service Supervisor at their corporate HQ down near Midway Airport (MDW) from 1983-1985. He left in 1986 to become Manager Central Reservations Control (think yield management) at Simmons Airlines. Airline had 2 Commuter Divisions; American Eagle and Republic Express. Simmons was bought out by American and Northwest in early 1987. He then joined Cathay Pacific Airways in Spring of 1987 as an Area Sales Manager based in Chicago. He covered a territory of 11 states in the Midwest doing Passenger Sales. He stayed with CX until retirement in the late ‘90’s. Hugh enjoys traveling with his wife and also has a second home in Hawaii!
